John Stamos says he’s ‘disappointed’ Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen never appeared on Fuller House

Full House star John Stamos has opened up about how he felt about the fact former co-stars Marky-Kate and Ashley Olsen never made an appearance on the revival series.

Fuller House aired for five seasons on Netflix before coming to an end last year, however the Olsen twins failed to reprise their role as Michelle Tanner in the series.

During his appearance on Thursday’s Watch What Happens Live!, a fan asked John if he was surprised by the fact the 34-year-old fashion designers never made a cameo.

Host Andy Cohen later rephrased the question for John as he asked: ‘Were you surprised that the Olsens never made an appearance on the show, or you knew when they said, “We’re not doing it,” that they weren’t doing it?’

John – who played Jesse Katsopolis – replied: ‘Yeah, that was pretty much it. I mean, you know, we were disappointed, but we understood.

‘I remember Lori [Loughlin] saying to me, “They won two or three CFDA [Fashion] Awards.” That’s like winning two or three Oscars. If you won three Oscars, would you come back and do this? I was like, “Eh, maybe not.”‘

Mary-Kate and Ashley shot to stardom on the ABC sitcom, and went on to star in their own TV shows and films.

However, they decided to refocus on their careers as fashion designers and essentially retired from acting in 2012.

In December 2019, co-star Candace Cameron Bure told TVLine that the show’s team never reached out to the Olsens to make a cameo in the season finale.

She explained: ‘It was very clear several seasons ago that they did not want to do it.’
