Only Federer and Connors are ahead of the Spaniard. The Swiss ace has reached the quarterfinal of three separate events on 17 occasions. Rafael Nadal is the most successful player at the Monte Carlo Masters

Rafa has won the Monte Carlo Masters on 11 occasions, and this includes eight titles in a row from 2005 to 2012. He is the most successful player at the event.

Federer had received his first wild card for an event in Halle in Germany. Therefore, the tournament will always have a special place in his heart. Besides Halle, Roger has had similar feats at Wimbledon, and in his hometown in Basel. Halle and Wimbledon take place on grass courts, whereas Basel’s event is played in an indoor hard-court stadium.

Federer played his first tournament at the ATP Doha Open 2021 in March in the current season. He was absent from the tennis circuit for well over a year, as he had to undergo two knee surgeries.

Nadal lost in the quarterfinal in Melbourne this season

Rafa began his season at the Australian Open this year. He fell short and lost in the quarterfinal to Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek athlete won against the odds, clawing back from two sets down to emerge as the winner, eventually.

The Monte Carlo Masters is the first event since the Australian Open for Rafa. The clay-court is his most preferred surface, and he will surely look to make the most of his opportunities.
