UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs Gastelum will see a blockbuster middleweight clash between Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum go down in the main event. Also, another crucial fight in the 185lbs division will take place in the preliminary card. Comparatively lower-ranked contenders, Bartosz Fabinski, and Gerald Meerschaert will look to get a crucial win.

Meerschaert is coming off a 17-second first-round knockout loss against Khamzat Chimaev in his last fight. ‘GM3’ has now dropped three out of his last five fights and is currently on a two-fight skid as Ian Heinisch also knocked him out in the first round prior to ‘Borz’. A submission victory over Deron Winn was his last triumph inside the Octagon.

Meanwhile, Fabinski lost in his return to the UFC to Andre Muniz. He competed in one fight at Cage Warriors following a four-fight stint in the UFC between 2015 to 2018.

Gerald Meerschaert and Bartosz Fabinski: Atats and analysis

The 33-year-old ‘GM3’ will enter his forty-sixth professional contest and will look to improve his 31-14 record. However, the 34-year-old Fabinski will look to maintain his own stellar 15-4 record.

Meerschaert is a supreme fighter, but his chin is questionable after two knockout losses. This could prove worrisome against ‘The Butcher’ who has 8 T/KO’s to his name.

However, Meerschaert can submit any opponent and has claimed 23 of his 31 wins in this fashion. It will be up to Fabinski to keep ‘GM3’ away and be careful of allowing him to take the fight to the ground.

Despite ‘The Butcher’ being the elder combatant, Meerschaert has a lot of mileage and could be ground out by the 34-year-old. It will be up to ‘GM3’ to use his height and reach advantage to damage whilst remaining out of range. However, we don’t see this happening.
