“He Is a Dangerous Man” – Chris Arreola Gives His Take on Andy Ruiz Jr.

Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. will face his ex-training partner Chris Arreola in a 12-round main-event battle on May 1. The Mexican heavyweights have known each other a long time and share a storied history.

They have honed each other for several fight camps and are very well aware of the other’s prowess. Hence, they will face familiar figures as they seek to resurrect their position in the ongoing world title picture. Although Ruiz Jr. has shifted his camp under Team Canelo, he and Arreola still share mutual respect.

Prior to the fight, ‘The Nightmare’ connected with Boxing Scene and reflected opinion on how things have changed between him and Ruiz Jr. The duo is no longer the sparring partners and are standing in each other’s way to progress in the heavyweight division.

“This is a fight that—in all honesty—I’ve seen coming since the first time I sparred Andy. I remember the first time we sparred, I remember seeing this pudgy kid that went in the ring. I didn’t think nothing of him until he threw those hands. Those hands are lethal. Those hands were fast. He is a Mexican with speed,” said Arreola.

Arreola added, “I knew one day this fight would come. This day is here. He is a dangerous man. At one point he wanted to be like me. Now I want to be like him.”

Andy Ruiz Jr. vs Chris Arreola- Who can take the win?

Despite having an open approach to the fight, Ruiz Jr. can find himself in trouble if Arreola lands the power shot. Both men are hard-hitters, and their upcoming fight will only determine who is the better puncher. Moreover, both of them have lost their last fights and will try to return to the win column against each other.

Although Arreola will relish an advantage in height and reach, Andy Ruiz Jr’s impeccable punch combinations can nullify his disadvantage. Additionally, ‘The Destroyer’ has sparred with several world champions like Ryan Garcia, Canelo Alvarez, and many more for the particular fight camp. So, he would be in even better shape than before.

Who do you think will take the win? Chris Arreola or Andy Ruiz Jr.?
