The Good Morning Britain presenter took to her Instagram page this evening to pay touching tribute to the royal family as they laid the Duke of Edinburgh to rest.

Sharing a photo of the Queen sat alone in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, Kate wrote: “So alone – my heart breaks for her and so so many others who have lost loved ones this year.

“Just shows who ever you are the pain of grief and the loneliness it brings . #heartbreaking”.

The Queen was forced to stand apart from her loved ones at the funeral due to social distancing measures amid the ongoing pandemic.

Kate’s moving social media post

Only 30 mourners, comprised of the Philip’s closest family and friends, attended the gathering due to strict Covid rules.

Kate’s former co-star and close friend Piers Morgan was also moved by the images of Her Majesty, posting one of the photos alongside a crying emoji.

Prince Philip passed away last Friday, 9th April, at the age of 99.

Kate has personally suffered the pain of the coronavirus pandemic over the past year, with her world torn apart when husband Derek Draper was rushed to hospital with the virus in March 2020.

He remained in intensive care for a year, and the star was repeatedly warned to prepare herself for his death.

Last week, The Sun revealed that Derek was back at home with Kate and their two children after she spent thousands converting the North London property to meet his needs.

Although Derek has been taken off all of the machines he was on in ICU, he still receives round-the-clock care at home, and he still faces a “long and gruelling” fight to full health.

Kate previously told how coronavirus ravaged Derek’s body; his kidneys failed, he has liver and pancreas damage and his heart has stopped more than once.

Countless infections have left holes in his lungs and the battle has seen him lose eight stone.
