All You Need To Know About Dominic Thiem’s Tennis Tournament

In recent years, rising tennis star Dominic Thiem has emerged as a real force in the men’s game. Amongst the new set of players, he has displayed growth with each season passing by and even won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open last season.

The Austrian ace has teamed up with Red Bull and created the ‘Red Bull Thiem, Set, Match’. It is an exhibition event for men and women to showcase their talent in tennis. In 2020, the event hosted its inaugural edition and was played across six different venues in Austria.

Dominic Thiem’s event has an interesting set of rules

The rules are different from the normal game. Matches are played in short sets, which consist of four games and a tie-break at 3-3. Players playing an attacking game, hitting winners are rewarded with double points. The winners of the event will get a chance to practice with the Austrian star himself.

The whole concept of the event is to combine fun and seriousness. To promote youngsters into the game is the primary objective. It is an innovative idea and something different from what has been conducted over the years. In its first edition last year, over 400 men and women enrolled themselves to compete against each other.

Dominic Thiem has not had the best start to his 2021 season

Reflecting on Dominic’s current season, he has got off to a troublesome start. His journey at the Australian Open ended in the fourth round, after which he played poorly at the tournament in Doha and Dubai. He took a break from the Tour to regroup and come with a better outlook for the remainder of the season.

Due to his recent decision, he has missed ATP Masters 1000 events in Miami and Monte Carlo. He is expected to compete at the ATP Serbia Open in Belgrade and will follow it up with participation at the Rome Masters and then the French Open. Thiem is a two-time finalist at Roland Garros and will be looking to go that one step further this time around.
