Broncos’ Melvin Gordon Demands More Respect, Tired of Being ‘Overlooked’
The Denver Broncos are one of the NFL’s most respected franchises. Over the last two decades, the Broncos were one of the perennial contenders in the league. The rivalry between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady defined the NFL in the 2000s and 2010s. While Manning is long gone, there are other players present with the team still worthy of respect. Melvin Gordon believes that he isn’t getting enough respect from the league.
Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon spoke in an interview recently. He talked about his first season with the Broncos after leaving the Chargers. Gordon noted how difficult his first season with the Broncos, especially with the presence of Phillip Lindsay. Gordon had to find his place in the team, but felt like he wasn’t fully accepted by the team around him.

“It was probably one of my most difficult seasons. I am not going to lie. Just ’cause a lot of fans and a lot of people weren’t too happy with me coming in and Phil wanting to get paid and everything like that. I was like, ‘Look man, I had no parts in that.’ I wanted to be here, and they wanted me to be here. It was a mutual thing and it kind of just happened. It was tough, man, because I felt like a lot of people didn’t accept me.”
Melvin Gordon tired of the disrespect
Gordon added that he wants to come back this season and put up a great performance. After struggling last year, the running back is focused on being one of the best in his positions. Gordon noted how difficult the last few seasons had been, with the Chargers and the lack of exposure, and the absence of fans with the Broncos due to COVID-19. He wants to stop being overlooked and believes he deserves more respect.
“Yeah, I just want to come out and be the best back. I would love the rushing title, you know what I mean? I want to be the best back, I feel like I am so overlooked. Whatever that case maybe because we didn’t get a lot of TV time with the Chargers and last year with splitting the ball and the fans not being there because of COVID, I don’t know. But I get overlooked a lot and I am kind of sick of it.”
