‘Bully Ball’: Miami Heat Leader Jimmy Butler Calls Out Bam Adebayo to Change His Playing Style

Miami Heat is in a delicate position after losing three consecutive games in the last week. Once sitting comfortably in the top five, they slid back to #7 seed and now face a very tough situation. This poor show by last year’s runner-up team has frustrated Jimmy Butler to a great extent, and he is vocal about his disappointment. 

The world knows the Heat franchise for its fighting spirit and an attitude that stops its opponents from discounting them at any point. But in this season, Erik Spoelstra’s men have rather appeared overconfident than a pack that always works its way up. So what is Jimmy’s suggestion for the remaining tournament?

Jimmy Butler and his advice cum order to Bam Adebayo

Bam Adebayo changing his playing style to attempting more midrange shots has disgruntled Jimmy Buckets. Although Bam is averaging a career-high 19 ppg with a field goal percentage of 56.6, it has failed to amuse the team leader. Jimmy Butler has certainly set the bar very high for the center-forward in his fourth NBA season. 

In an interview, the 31-YO explained how he wants Bam to dominate the paint rather than settle with midrange jumpers. He believes that 23-YO has the right capability to pierce through traffic, make contact, draw fouls, and dominate the rim.

Everyone would agree with Jimmy because Bam has done amazingly from the paint, be it his high-flying blocks, or his layups. So, there is nothing wrong with the team captain asking his main man to play aggressive basketball. In fact, that’s the Miami Heat style of play, and Bam must use his potential to have a greater impact on the team.

When Mr. Buckets called out the entire Miami Heat roster

Jimmy Butler is a vocal leader who does not shy away from taking a jab at his own teammates. After the inconsistency in their play, Jimmy recently agreed that they’re being too complacent and that should come at a cost.

Now, many critics might discount Jimmy for throwing his teammates under the bus. But one must consider that the leader is averaging a career-high in steals (2.1 spg) and is also scoring 21.4 points per game. Also, when a dejected Mr. Buckets shakes his head after Bam Adebayo misses a free throw, he does that after himself averaging a higher (85.2%) FT accuracy. So, the man is a leader with a hunter that he splashes on everyone, including his own self.
