Daniel Cormier Believes Jake Paul Won’t Fight an Active UFC Fighter

Jake Paul defeated Ben Askren in the main event of the Triller fight card. The YouTuber has now extended his professional record to 3-o. He is now shooting for bigger stars like Conor McGregor after defeating former multi-organization MMA champion Askren. However, former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier believes, ‘The Problem Child’ doesn’t want to fight an opponent who can box.

Legendary boxing coach Teddy Atlas suggested Askren didn’t have the basics of boxing. “We knew Askren was not a striker but unfortunately didn’t have basics like don’t push jab and make sure to cover after punch. Credit to Paul for knowing basics; counter with a right over slow left,” wrote Atlas on Twitter.

UFC commentator Jon Anik took notice of that and wished Paul fights an active UFC fighter with some hands next. “Would like to see this Jake Paul cat fight an active UFC fighter with some hands. I can think of hundreds. Paul was sitting there at (-110) by T/KO against a grappler coming off a recent hip-replacement surgery. Love me some Ben Askren but not at all his world,” wrote Anik.

Daniel Cormier took notice of his commentary partner’s idea and was appreciative of it. However, he didn’t believe Paul would risk his pay-cheques by actually doing that. “This is it! Spot on but he won’t. Why? He makes millions doing what he’s doing they’ll keep picking the opponents bro,” DC replied.

What future behold for ‘The Problem Child’, remains to be seen. However, one can only imagine that the YouTuber will only further elevate his antics and create even more buzz from now on.

What’s next for Jake Paul after his win over Ben Askren?

It’s inevitable that Paul will be back to box gain. Who he picks as his next opponent remains to be seen. From fighting a fellow YouTube star to fighting a Basketball player and now an MMA star, he is toughening up in his level of competition.

Whether ‘The Problem Child‘ opts to fight a fighter who knows the art of striking remains to be seen. But his cherry-picking of his opponents is only embarrassing the sport of boxing.
