From Tyson Fury to Floyd Mayweather, 10 Boxers Who Have Wrestled WWE Superstars
WWE isn’t reserved only for pro-wrestlers. More often than not, individuals from other industries come over to WWE for special appearances, in-ring debuts, and brief feuds. One of these industries in the boxing industry.
Over the years, WWE Universe has witnessed several boxers make an appearance. Here are ten boxers who made a huge impact during their time at WWE.
Boxers who made WWE appearances
Mike Tyson
There’s no need to introduce who he is. Anyone who knows anything about contact-sport has heard his name.
He has appeared on WWE several times since 1998. In fact, his appearance on Raw helped the Red Brand dominate WCW’s Monday NITRO.
The brawl between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Tyson on January 19th, 1998 helped put the brand in the limelight. Next, Tyson was the special enforcer in the match Stone Cold vs. Shawn Michaels, and the views were rocketed!
Mr. T
Mr. T came under Vince McMahon radar after he appeared as a boxer in Rocky III. WWE brought him in as a partner for Hulk Hogan to face Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff in the first WrestleMania’s [1985] main event.
WWE inducted him in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.
Muhammad Ali
‘The Greatest of All Time’ had a significant influence over the boxing and the wrestling industry. In fact, he was the special guest referee at WrestleMania 1985. In fact, he is credited with paving the path for the wrestler vs. boxer scenario.
Tyson Fury
Fury’s appearance at WWE is widely remembered for his brawl with Braun Strowman. The Gypsy King and The Monster Among Men started their feud when Strowman threw Dolph Ziggler towards where Fury was sitting during a SmackDown episode.
After Strowman refused to apologize for this action, the boxer and the wrestler squared off.
WWE gained a huge boost after Tyson Fury’s appearance.
Floyd Mayweather
Mayweather appeared in a feud against Big Show at WrestleMania 24. It started from No Way Out in 2008 when Mayweather arrived at To rescue Rey Mysterio and broke Show’s nose.
At WrestleMania 24, everyone expected the match to be less physical given the difference in sizes. However, it was one of the most entertaining celebrity matches in the event’s history.
Brock Lesnar
Even though he started off as a pro-wrestler, Lesnar tried his hand at MMA. In fact, he even won an MMA pro fight in 2007.
However, he returned to wrestling after losing a couple of UFC fights. Following that, he made a huge difference while working with WWE.
CM Punk
Punk has been a huge part of WWE, but he has fought his fair share of battles as a boxer.
In fact, after he quit WWE, he claimed he wouldn’t ever return to wrestling but there’s a chance he might return to the octagon.
Ronda Rousey
Like Punk, Rousey made a difference in the boxing industry. Hence, when she came to WWE, she was already a huge name.
As of now, she isn’t a part of the octagon or the squares circle. While it is confirmed that she will never return to the octagon, there’s no word on if she’ll ever return to WWE.
Evander Holyfield
He won the heavyweight boxing championship several times, and appeared on WWE when he started a feud with Superstar Matt Hardy.
He replaced MVP, who acted as his manager for that match, to clash with Hardy.
Logan Paul
This was the most recent appearance. Not only is he a part of the industry, but also a celebrity on YouTube.
He appeared as an alliance to Sami Zayn, but turned his back on after Owens defeated Zayn at WrestleMania 37. There’s no word on whether he will return to WWE anytime soon.
There have been others who have made special appearances or transitioned to WWE from boxing. There is no ounce of doubt that WWE will bring in boxers in the future too!
