The Passion of the Christ actor Jim Caviezel promoted a QAnon conspiracy theory that children are being drained of their blood.

The actor, who played Jesus in the 2004 film, appeared virtually at a right-wing convention in Oklahom to talk about his new film Sound of Freedom.

In the film he plays former Department of Homeland Security special agent Timothy Ballad who quit his job to rescue children from sex traffickers.

The Person of Interest star spoke about trafficking and made reference to ‘the adrenochroming of children’. This comes from a ridiculous belief baselessly held by QAnon followers, which claims there are a group of celebrities and politicians who harvest and drink the blood of children for ‘adrenochrome’ – a chemical that they say stops the ageing process.

QAnon is a wide-ranging conspiracy theory which has claimed that there is a cabal of Satan-worshipping paedophiles in government, business and the media.

Speaking about Tim, Jim began: ‘He’s down there saving children as we speak, because they’re pulling kids out of the darkest recesses of hell right now, in dumps and all kinds of places. The adrenochrome-ing of children, look…’

He was then asked to explain what he meant by ‘adrenochroming’, to which he replied: ‘Essentially you have adrenaline in your body, I’ll simplify it, and when you are scared you produce adrenaline.

‘If you’re an athlete you get in the fourth quarter you have adrenaline that comes out of you. If a child knows he’s going to die, his body will secrete this adrenaline, and they have a lot of terms that they use.

‘It’s the worst horror I’ve ever seen,’ he added before then saying he ‘never, ever, ever saw it’.

‘The screaming alone, even if I never ever, ever saw it, it’s beyond, and these people that do it, they’ll be no mercy for them,’ he went on.

Turning back to his latest passion project, the actor said: ‘This is one of the best films I’ve ever done. It’s on a level of Academy award level.’

‘Many people on social media expressed disbelief at his comments, with one writing: ‘I was today years old when I discovered who Jim Caviezel is. I’ll go back to forgetting him now.’

‘I…I think I just lost brain cells watching this.’ another said as a further person wrote: ‘Is this forreal? Is this to promote the film or does he really believe this?’

One person tweeted: ‘Never knew this about Jim Cavizel, and really hate to hear this. I’ve always enjoyed his acting. What’s come over these people?’

Another tweet read: ‘I love how they always know exactly what horrible atrocities other people are doing. I’ve yet to see any evidence of those accusations…anywhere.’

‘This makes me sad. He was such a good actor’ another social media comment read.
