Nikki Grahame’s family believes she was discharged from the hospital too soon during her anorexia battle, according to reports.

The Big Brother star died aged 38 on April 9 and had been treated at a general hospital for three weeks before being discharged 24 hours prior to her death.

‘Those close to Nikki feel she would be alive today if she wasn’t discharged so soon,’ an insider told The Sun:

‘Her family feel she wasn’t strong enough physically to care for herself. It’s left them shocked and heartbroken.’

It comes after a source close to the star told Metro.co.uk Nikki never made it to a specialist eating disorder unit because there were no beds available either on the NHS or privately.

They added: ‘Nikki was supposed to enter an outpatient clinic from this Monday, she sadly never got to and died within 24 hours of leaving hospital.’

The source continued that Nikki’s loved ones ‘pleaded with’ the hospital not to discharge her ‘as she wasn’t ready’ but say the much-loved star had been in ‘good spirits’ after gaining weight while there.

Nikki’s fans have raised nearly £70,000 for her funeral following her death.

A GoFundMe page was created before she died to help raise money for what they hoped would be life-saving treatment for the reality star.

Sue Grahame, Nikki’s mother, appeared on This Morning last month and said her daughter’s condition deteriorated after gyms closed during the pandemic.

Tributes have poured in since the news of Nikki’s death.

Kate Garraway was forced to stop an interview with her ex-partner and fellow Big Brother housemate Pete Bennett on Good Morning Britain on Monday after he became overcome with emotion.
