Robert Whittaker Reveals He Would Take on Jake Paul for Less Than Half a Million Dollars
Former UFC champion Robert Whittaker spoke out after his dominant unanimous decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Vegas 24. ‘The Reaper’ displayed slick striking and clutch offensive wrestling to earn a 50-45 across the judges’ scorecards. Although Gastelum put forth a comprehensive effort, he wasn’t able to figure out the puzzle Whittaker posed on the feet.
Chiefly, Robert Whittaker sat down with the media and went over his victory that will probably bring him to the next title shot. What’s more, he was also asked to comment on Jake Paul’s KO victory over Ben Askren in a boxing match. Both the boxing and the UFC main event coincidently ran concurrently with each other.

Robert Whittaker goes in on Jake Paul’s move to 3-0 as a boxer
‘Bobby Knuckles’ had a rather concise viewpoint of Paul’s victory and was complimentary of his efforts. Furthermore, he was asked to chime in on whether he would take on Paul for the same base salary as Ben Askren. Whittaker’s response stayed true to what fans have come to expect from the former oceanic champion.
“Guess nobody saw that coming but Askren is not known for his boxing, is he? You know, good on him, good on him. He’s doing his thing, yeah, he’s doing his thing. Good on him. I’d fight him for less [than half a million dollars].”
The base pay-out for fighters on the Triller Fight Club’s recent card was impressive, to say the least. Apart from Askren’s staggering $500,000, Jake Paul walked away with $690,000 before pay-per-view points. The projected pay after the pay-per-view numbers come in could very push the salary of the main-eventers above $2 million.
Robert Whittaker much like most other UFC fighters would chomp at the bit in order to box Jake Paul for that kind of money. While ‘The Problem Child’ is definitely a competent boxer, however, he won’t be favored over elite fighters like Whittaker. Much of the appeal in his scrap against Ben Askren came in due to the fact that Askren wasn’t a credentialed striker.
