Sloane Stephens Unveils Best Moment of Her Tennis Career

Sloane Stephens didn’t begin her clay-court season on a high note. Even though she managed to reach the quarters of the Charleston Open 2021, she failed to win her match against Veronika Kudermetova there. The Russian simply thrashed her there and defeated her in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match was 6-3, 6-4.

Former World No.3 Sloane Stephens is quite active on her social media. She recently put an ‘Ask Me Anything’ story on her Instagram handle and surprisingly, received many interesting questions. One of them was that what was the best moment in her tennis life so far.

Clearly, it is her US Open 2017 triumph that is the best moment of her tennis career so far. She didn’t even have to write about it but just posted a picture of herself with the Grand Slam title. Surprisingly, the US Open 2017 was her first and only major to date.

Sloane Stephens and her US Open 2017 campaign

Sloane Stephens didn’t have an easy draw at the US Open 2017. She faced the current no.1 Ashleigh Barty in the third round but crushed her in straight sets.

The journey ahead was full of challenges as she met Julia Gorges in the fourth round and then defeated Anastasija Sevastova in the quarters. After winning it, she had to face the 7-time Grand Slam champion, Venus Williams, in the semis.

Stephens completely dominated the first set and won it 6-1. However, Williams made an incredible comeback and bageled Stephens in the next set. Just when everyone thought that it would be over for Sloane as Venus had the momentum, she won the deciding set 7-5 to enter into her first Grand Slam final.

In the finals, Stephens steamrolled over fellow counterpart Madison Keys and lifted her maiden Grand Slam title. She even finished as the runner-up at the French Open 2018, losing the finals to the current World No.3 Simona Halep.

Fans still have huge expectations from the 28-year-old Sloane Stephens. Will she be able to succeed at the upcoming French Open 2021?
