Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice lands role in film alongside Hollywood star
Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice is taking his talents to the big screen.
Giovanni, who is known for his impeccable dance moves, has landed a role in a film alongside a well-known Hollywood star.
The 30-year-old will be in a fantasy movie called Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps, with acting legend Christopher Lloyd.
Christopher, of course, became a household name when he starred as Doc in the popular Back to the Future movies.
The acting talent in the film doesn’t end there, as Sean Astin (Goonies, Lord of the Rings), Tami Stronach (The NeverEnding Story) and Michael Emerson (Lost) have roles.
Games of Thrones star Daniel Portman and Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, EastEnders) also feature.
The movie follows the story of a goatherd seeking out a reclusive witch to break the evil enchantment that has long kept him from taking a wife.
‘When he completes the three impossible trials the witch prescribes, the man earns the hand of the legendary Princess, the only heir of the Old King of the Cursed Kingdom,’ the movie’s site reads.
‘But when he arrives at the altar with a perfect fairytale ending hanging in the balance, both the goatherd and mysterious witch … find that there is one enchantment they can’t figure out how to break… true love,’ the movie’s site reads.
An industry source told the Daily Star: ‘This is a big deal for Giovanni. He is thrilled to be part of the film that features a legend like Christopher.
‘And he is hoping this will be the start of a whole new career for him.’
Friends of the dancer also told the website that the role was a ‘dream come true’ and that he has ‘loved every second of it.’
The professional dancer filmed his scenes in Glasgow last week.
Strictly fans don’t need to worry though, they will still be seeing Giovanni on the dancefloor this year as he still remains as one of the professionals.
Last year Giovanni made it to the semi-finals with newsreader Ranvir Singh.
Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One in the autumn.
