Warriors’ Stephen Curry Matches Two Kobe Bryant Records and Stands a Step Away from Breaking Them

Stephen Curry is on fire, to say the least. The Warriors’ all-time leading scorer has once again replenished as a scoring machine, dropping huge numbers every other night. It is only heartbreaking for his fans to see how his heroic night against the Celtics wasn’t enough to save GSW from losing 114-119.

As the Warriors continue to struggle and as the #6 seeding is getting far from reach, the Chef is getting better. It is as if Steph is trying his best to make for the absence of Klay Thompson and play doubly hard. Whatever be his motivation, the 33-YO is making strides in matching and breaking league records.

The Warriors are 5-5 in the last 10 games, but that does not speak entirely about the performances from Steph. Skipping the forgetful game against the Raptors that Curry missed, the star has 391 points in the last ten games. This consistency in play has brought him on the same stage with 2012’s Kobe Bryant. That year, Kobe enjoyed a 10-game 30+ points streak and that helped the Lakers finish third in the WC.

Not just this. Chef Curry has scored 40+ points four times this month, and the record matches the iconic 1998 Michael Jordan (with 2012 Kobe).

The Warriors will next play the Sixers and hence the chances are Curry will mark a 30-point night out of sheer need. Plus, GSW will play six more games in the calendar month, giving him enough chances to drop another 40-point game to break the aforementioned record.

The Warriors failed to capitalize Curry’s heroics

Steph Curry is averaging 30+ this season and that too with a mind-bending effective field goal percentage of 61%. Yet, the Warriors are in the play-in-tournament bracket with the slimming hope to get better.

Against the Celtics, Steph’s 11 three-pointers and 47 points could not topple Jayson Tatum’s 44-point double-double. The Warriors, playing without Kelly Oubre and James Wiseman, had an equal chance to win against the Jaylen Brown less C’s. Still, the poor clutch play and missing two three-point attempts under 10 seconds remaining cost them the game. Their bench could not contribute much, and hence the painful loss.

Looking at this, do you think Curry alone can take this team to the postseason? Help us know in the comments.
