The wait for new episodes of Call the Midwife is finally over, with the latest instalment arriving on BBC One this evening.

Fans have been waiting patiently for series 10 after a five month delay due to the coronavirus pandemic – and people are already looking forward to further episodes.

The show is set to transport viewers back to the East End of 1960s London, with fan favourites returning for the new run.

Things will be slightly different this time around, with the latest series featuring seven, rather than the usual eight episodes as a result of the delay.

Call the Midwife will be without one of its biggest names too, with Nurse Valerie Dyer star Jennifer Kirby leaving the show between series.

But will there be an 11th series of the drama? Here’s everything you need to know.

The good news is, there’s plenty more episodes of Call the Midwife planned for the future.

There will indeed be an 11th series, and the new episodes are set to go into production later this year.

That’s not all. The BBC has also confirmed that the series will air until at least 2024, with at least 13 seasons expected.

There will be Christmas specials for each series, too.

In the meantime, the 10th series of Call the Midwife begins on Sunday April 18 at 8pm on BBC One.

While the show has lost one of its stars, Nurse Crane star Linda Bassett is making a return in the new series, as is Ella Bruccoleri as Sister Frances.

Helen George is also back as Trixie Franklin, and Leonie Elliott also returns as Lucille Anderson.

Despite not appearing in the Christmas Special, Miriam Margolyes is also part of the cast as Mother Mildred.

Call the Midwife begins on Sunday night at 8pm on April 18.
