Christian Bale looks unrecognisable with new bald look in latest dramatic transformation before Thor: Love and Thunder filming
Christian Bale has shown off a new bald look as he gets settled in Sydney before filming for Thor: Love and Thunder.
The 47-year-old actor – who is no stranger to undergoing dramatic transformations for his big screen roles – has once again changed things up as he plays Gorr the God Butcher in the highly anticipated blockbuster.
Bale was spotted at Whale Beach in Sydney’s Northern Beaches as he went for a jog in the sun and worked up a sweat wearing a navy t-shirt and a pair of camouflage shorts.
Showing off his shaved head, the star went barefoot on the sands after recently landing in Australia to work on Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster alongside Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman.
It’s said his wife Sibi Blazic and their kids Emmaline and Joseph have joined him Down Under, with the movie – set to drop in February next year – already shooting around the city.
While we don’t know much about Bale’s role, co-star Tessa Thompson – who will play Valkyrie in the movie – has teased his villainous character.
She previously told Entertainment Tonight: ‘Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic.
‘I’ve read the script. I can’t tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie [Portman] and I.’
Gorr first appeared in Thor: God of Thunder #2 back in January 2013, and the new film will be his live-action debut.
Over his illustrious career, Bale has been almost a master of disguise with some incredible and wild transformations.
One of the most famous came in 2004’s The Machinist, as he dropped around 60lbs in four months to get himself to 120 with a diet of ‘water, an apple, and one cup of coffee per day’.
The following year, he bulked right back up for Batman Begins and loved ‘gorging’ on ice cream and pizza to build back his weight.
By 2010, he lost 30lbs – this time mostly down to exercise – to play real-life boxer Dicky Eklund, who struggled with addiction.
It’s not all been dropping weight though, as both American Hustle (2013) and Vice (2018) saw him pile on around 40lbs to play Irving Rosenfeld and Dick Cheney respectively.
This time, it looks like Bale’s gone for a haircut – which seems much more manageable.
