Ex TK Maxx worker reveals secrets for bagging the best bargains- including ideal time to shop & when items get reduced

IT’S a truth universally acknowledged that you can’t go into TK Maxx and just buy one thing – trust us, we’ve tried.

And because we’re well aware that we’re not going to magically develop the ability to resist a bargain overnight, we’ve found the next best thing… a former employee who is sharing all the shop’s best-kept secrets.

TK Maxx reduce items every six weeks, a former employee has claimed[/caption]

Over the past week, TikTok user Hannah Shaw has been revealed the shopping hacks she picked up while working for the brand – including the best time of day to visit the store.

And we’re not exaggerating when we say this is going to change the way we shop forever.

How often items get reduced

In one of her “TK Maxx Secrets” videos, Hannah claims that products get reduced every six weeks – so it’s worth holding off in case it goes down in price.

She explained: “Everything in the shop gets reduced every six weeks.

“And if it’s there for 12 weeks, it’ll be reduced again until final clearance [which is when] everything goes down to like 20p. It’s ridiculous.”

January sales are ‘the same’ as any other

Let’s be honest – after Christmas, we throw ourselves into sale shopping.

But Hannah claims TK Maxx’s January sale isn’t particularly better than any of the others that are happening all year round.

She continued: “There’s always a sale and there’s usually a sale section.

“But you will always find sale items in TK Maxx no matter what time of year it is.

“They do big up January sales but they literally just change the colour of the sticker.”

Shop in the mornings to nab the newest stock

They say the early bird catches the worm – and this certainly applies to TK Maxx shopping.

Hannah explained: “TK Maxx get deliveries everyday apart from a Sunday and it’s usually in the morning.

“Usually they’ll have staff that start work at 6 and it’s their job to put all the stock out.

“However, everything gets put out – unless there’s no room on the shelf which is very very rare [and only really happens] at Christmas.”

Everything in the shop gets reduced every six weeks. And if it’s there for 12 weeks, it’ll be reduced again until final clearance which is when everything goes down to like 20p.

For this reason, Hannah claims that it’s not really worth asking employees to check the stock room as most products are already out on display.

The top designers aren’t always advertised

Part of the fun of TK Maxx is that you never know what you’re going to find – and according to Hannah, there are some brands available in stores that they’re not allowed to advertise.

She claimed: “Calvin Klein have a partnership with TK Maxx but they’re not allowed to advertise it as part of the deal.

“So if you see [the tagline] ‘America’s best brands’, that’s usually Calvin Klein but we use it for other American brands if we couldn’t find the right signage for it.”
