Francis Ngannou Says He and Kamaru Usman are Coming to ‘Take Over’ at UFC 261

The current UFC Heavyweight Champion of the world, Francis Ngannou, is a part of a big revolution in the UFC. Ever since Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya captured the Welterweight and Middleweight belts, the pressure was on Ngannou to emulate his brethren.

Amazingly, he did just that, and more when he knocked out the greatest heavyweight in the history of the sport in Stipe Miocic to win the belt.

Three of the most popular belts are now held by fighters from the continent of Africa. All three also share brilliant camaraderie and always spur each other on during events.

Ngannou went live on Instagram to talk about Usman’s upcoming fight against Jorge Masvidal for the main event of UFC 261. The video was re-uploaded to YouTube by FightHub TV.

Before everything, we are in Jacksonville next weekend. Not to take part but to take over with my brother Kamaru Usman who’s fighting in the main event,” he said after greeting everyone who joined the live video.

A match against the Street Jesus, Jorge Masvidal. Huge fight, huge match. So, we (are) gonna be there, give him some love, some support, stand on his side,” he added.

This outing will mark their second stint in the octagon and the Nigerian Nightmare’s 4th title defense after he bested Gilbert Burns, Colby Covington, and Masvidal himself to keep the title.

Francis Ngannou believes that Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal can be the fight of the year

Ngannou also heaped high praise on the match-up and called it a potential candidate for the Fight of the Year. “It’s gonna be huge. Huge fight. I gonna be there myself. I think that fight will be (a) candidate for the fight of the year,” he said.

He’s not wrong, as Masvidal and Usman have engaged in a war of words. Their first fight was a dominant win for Usman as he out-wrestled Masvidal in the clinch.

However, Masvidal is coming with a full training camp under his belt. It will be fascinating to see how it factors into the fight. Do you think Jorge Masvidal can beat Kamaru Usman?
