Olivia Colman is in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for upcoming release, Secret Invasion, new reports claim.

Secret Invasion, a six-episode series, has been confirmed to be coming on Disney Plus, and will focus on a group of shape-shifting Skrulls who have infiltrated Earth as humans.

They’re pretty convincing too – seeing as in Spider-Man: Far From Home revealed that Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) is currently being played by Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) on Earth while the real Shield operative is spending time in space.

It’s based on an eight episode comic book of the same name, which saw many of our favourite heroes being replaced by Skrulls in a massive crossover event for Marvel comic book characters.

The tagline was the ominous ‘who do you trust?’.

It’s not yet known who Olivia will be playing, but it will be a major new addition to the MCU considering she has sweeped awards season in her latest role of Queen Elizabeth in The Crown for Netflix.

Secret Invasion’s announcement has hyped up fans who are now out for clues over who is real and who is fake within the universe.

Kingsley Ben-Adir has also been confirmed to be joining the series in an unconfirmed role.

Skrulls were first introduced to MCU viewers in Captain Marvel, with Fury becoming friendly with them during the 1985-themed series that introduced Carol Danvers (Brie Larson).

Captain Marvel 2 is due for release in 2022, and it’s not unlikely that Skrulls may reunite with the unstoppable hero then as well.

The series joins a super successful launch of TV series that are tied into the cinematic world, starting with WandaVision and carrying through to Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

The next series up for release is Loki, with Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief infiltrating massive points in Earth history.

Marvel’s Secret Invasion is yet to be given a release date.
