Released WWE Superstar Peyton Royce Teases AEW Debut

Peyton Royce was one of the many names released by WWE last Thursday in what has become its annual logjam clearance of the main roster. Never used to her potential in WWE, Royce is now a free agent and will undoubtedly be looking for better avenues. 

Fans immediately spotted a clue to this in her recent Twitter post. The former Women’s Tag Team Champion shared a picture of herself in a Brodie Lee t-shirt, which was seen as a teaser to an upcoming move to AEW.

The late Brodie Lee was one of the best performers in AEW and managed to humble Cody Rhodes to become the AEW TNT Champion. His accomplishments there and in WWE still remain imprinted in the hearts of wrestling fans around the world. 

Although Peyton Royce may or may not have meant this as a teaser to her next role, fans think AEW is the best destination for her, given its reputation of giving Superstars the spotlight.

A lot of the released WWE talent has been linked to a move to AEW, and it seems as if this is the most likely destination for a lot of them. For one, it does have a lot of former WWE Superstars, and secondly, it has proved itself in the viewership charts as a serious competitor, especially since NXT has now moved to Tuesdays.

AEW will surely be interested in more than just Peyton Royce

Peyton Royce and her partner Billie Kay were one of WWE’s best tag teams as the IIconics until they were split up. Since then, we haven’t seen the best of the two brought out and we will undoubtedly see this potential unleashed should they head to AEW.

Another big name heading out of WWE was Samoa Joe, who fans thought was surely a future World Champion in the company. Unfortunately, WWE saw no reason to keep him I the ranks especially since he hasn’t competed in well over a year now. 

For Tony Khan and AEW, it’s just a matter of pickings and there’s a lot to choose from. Impact Wrestling also has a fair chance of signing these Superstars but neither promotion will be able to sign these names immediately.

WWE contractual stipulations state that released Superstars cannot sign with other promotions until 90 days after their departure. For this reason, we will have to wait before seeing who goes where.
