“Road Is Long”: Jannik Sinner Reveals What It Takes To Beat Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic
It’s been two decades since the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic starting carrying tennis forward. These supremely talented players are truly once-in-a-generation greats. All three of them display a different style of play, each having its own specialty. Even during their twilight phases, they still continue to dominate. Recently, Italian rising star Jannik Sinner voiced his opinion on the greatness of the big three. He noticed that these guys have worked very hard to reach where they are now. The youngster went on to praise and termed them as the greatest players in the history of tennis.
Speaking on the big three, the 19-year-old stated, “Novak, Rafa, and Roger are something special, they are the best players of our sport in history… There’s a lot of work to do when you play against them. I had the chance to face Rafa in Roland Garros, Novak in Monte Carlo. So the road is long to actually beat them.”

The Italian player competed against World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in Monte Carlo last week. Although he engaged in intense rallies against the Serb, he lost the match in straight sets. Last season, although he lost to Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinal at Roland Garros, he showcased encouraging signs of what to expect in the future.
Jannik came to the grand stage last year. Therefore, he has not faced Roger Federer as yet. The Swiss ace was out of action for over a year due to multiple knee surgeries, which forced him to remain on the sidelines.
Speaking of the current season, Sinner won his first title at one of the six ATP events in Melbourne prior to the Australian Open. Later, he lost in the first round at the Australian Open after being handed a tough draw, losing to Denis Shapovalov. He was also the finalist at the Miami Open, which was his third ATP tournament. It will be interesting to see how he fairs on the clay-court events.
