Teofimo Lopez Reveals Sad Ben Askren Story After Askren’s Loss to Jake Paul
The Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren PPV was one of the most talked-about sports events of the year. Ultimately, ‘The Problem Child’ silenced the critics with a vicious first-round knockout of the former Bellator MMA and ONE Championship champion. Following the fight, the undefeated Teofimo Lopez, who holds four belts in the lightweight division and is at the top of the weight class, revealed the sad reality of the former Olympian.
The 16-0 boxer, who was at the event, spoke to Fight Hub TV after the main event. He said, “It was just him [Askren] and his wife, heading back. Everyone was already over there, partying with Jake Paul, right now, as we speak. You know, that’s just the way life is.”
With this comment, Lopez reminded fans of the harsh reality of a boxing fight. One defeat can change everything in the sport, and Askren was the prime example of that. Moreover, this is not the first time Lopez has pointed to this fact.
‘The Takeover’ previously criticized fans for counting out Vasyl Lomachenko after just one loss. He even put the Ukrainian second after him on the list of active lightweights.

Teofimo Lopez praises Jake Paul
These comments from Lopez showed his sympathy towards Ben Askren. Lopez is yet to taste defeat in his professional career, but clearly understood how Askren felt. Despite this, ‘The Takeover’ gave credit where it was due.
Lopez said, “Good job for Jake, he do what he had to do.” The American then added, “One thing I can’t take away from him, and I think none of us can, is that the man is working hard.”
This comment from the lightweight champion will raise a few eyebrows since the American had predicted that ‘Funky’ Ben would secure the KO over ‘The Problem Child’. However, Lopez showed he had no problem with giving the YouTuber turned boxer the credit he deserved.
