WATCH: The Uncut War of Words Between George Russell and Bottas After Imola F1 Crash

The second round of the 2021 championship is done and dusted. However, not all crossed the finish line as Valtteri Bottas had a huge crash with Williams’ George Russell. It’s safe to say both didn’t seem happy on the team radio afterward, both giving harsh words to each other.

At the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola on lap 32 of the race, Russell was trying to overtake but misjudged it and crash into Bottas, which ended both of their races.

Russell thinks it was Bottas’s fault, while the Finn thinks it was the Williams driver who had to be blamed for causing such a horrible accident.

The British driver was chasing down the Mercedes around the circuit, trying to get in the top ten and aim for potential points finish. But Russell pushed too hard and caused him to take out Bottas, thus putting an end to their night.

A frustrated Bottas said on the team radio, “What a f**king, all good.” Russell was more furious on the team radio and said, “What the f**k was he doing, honestly, is he a f***king p***k or what?”

Russell feels that Bottas broke the most sacred rule in Formula One

After the heat boiled down, George started that he had the fastest car and the DRS available. He thinks that Valtteri broke the Gentlemen’s code and his small move costed the drivers heavily.

In the post-race interview, Russell said, “Between all the drivers we’ve had this gentleman’s agreement where if there’s a faster car approaching with the DRS you don’t jolt the steering wheel at the very last moment. I got the slipstream, and just as I pulled out, Valtteri moved very slightly and that just put me off line and put me onto the wet stuff.”

He added, “In perfectly dry conditions on a very ordinary circuit it’s dangerous, let alone on a very narrow circuit when we are turning and there are wet patches. So an unfortunate incident, but it’s been inevitable an incident like that would occur when drivers make small moves like this.”

“It’s the smallest of moves, but when you’re going at 220mph and you’re going 30mph quicker than the car ahead, it’s massive.” Russell concluded.

The Grove-based team didn’t take home any points this weekend, as both Latifi and Russell were out of the race. The next round of the season takes us to Portugal, where the team hopes they can have a better result.
