“Lies”- Randy Orton Denies Losing to Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia

Randy Orton and Roman Reigns have had a strange rivalry extending from 2014 to 2019. Reigns’ first big win in WWE was a SummerSlam win against the Viper. However, a fan on Twitter revealed a puzzling detail about Orton’s rivalry with Reigns, which sent the Viper into a tizzy.

Five years before Randy Orton and Roman Reigns captained their teams at the Crown Jewel PPV, they faced off in Saudi Arabia in a singles match. According to Profight Database, Orton suffered a pinfall loss to Roman Reigns in 2014 at a WWE live event.

On Twitter, a fan reminded Orton of his loss, which the Viper did not take well. He totally denied the loss to Reigns, which added more fuel to the fan-created fire. Another fan even posted a screenshot of the Profight Database where Orton’s loss is recorded.

By denying this loss to Reigns, Randy Orton is proving to the WWE Universe that the Tribal Chief and he have some bad blood. Despite facing off multiple times, there have been rumours of Orton and Reigns having backstage heat.

According to Bryan Alvarez, Reigns and Orton botched a spot during a house show [probably in Saudi Arabia]. This led to a fight between them backstage, and apparently the issues haven’t been settled yet.

“Another WWE source said the issue with Reigns was that there was a house show tag match which Reigns and Randy Orton were in, and they botched up a spot and got into a shouting match about it backstage. A guy in Reigns’ spot arguing with a guy in Randy Orton’s spot is a great way to get massive heat on you.” (H/T Bleacher Report)

Orton and Reigns’ rivalry

Randy Orton and Roman Reigns first crossed paths in 2013 when the Shield debuted in WWE. Within months of debuting at Survivor Series 2012, Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose beat WWE’s top stars and main event talent. This included many wins against Randy Orton.

Orton and Reigns met in a six-man tag match at WrestleMania 29. Reigns speared Orton out of his boots, allowing Dean Ambrose to pin the Viper for the big win. Reigns would also beat Orton in a tag team match where he and Rollins defended the titles against the Viper and Daniel Bryan at Payback 2013.

Orton was also part of the team that dealt the Shield their first loss in WWE. Fast forward to 2014, and Orton and Reigns were on opposite sides of the brutal Shield vs Evolution rivalry. After Reigns won their rivalry in 2014 with a big win at SummerSlam, he and Orton wouldn’t face off till the 2017 Royal Rumble.

He and Orton were the last two men, but the Viper dumped Reigns out to become a two-time Rumble winner. Their last clash would be at Crown Jewel in 2019.  Reigns led Team Hogan to a big win against Orton and Team Flair.
