Marlon Vera Set to Return on June 19th- Fights Davey Grant at UFC Fight Night
UFC bantamweight contender Marlon Vera is set to return to the Octagon on July 19 as he fights fellow divisional contender Davey Grant. The Ecuadorian last fought in the last fight card of 2020 as he suffered a decision loss to Jose Aldo. A finish over Sean O’Malley was his last win inside the Octagon.
Grant, on the other hand, is currently on a 3-fight winning streak. He knocked out Jonathan Martinez in his last outing inside the Octagon, and his fight against Vera will be a rematch between the duo. The English fighter fought ‘Chito’ in 2016 in his home country and won a decision that term against Vera.

The 28-year-old Vera has been a UFC veteran since 2014 and will make his 17th Octagon appearance against Grant. The Ecuadorian prospect has managed to win 10 of his fights in the promotion. Finishes over Roman Salazar, Brian Kelleher, Brad Pickett, and Sean O’Malley are the most notable triumphs of his time in the organization.
Grant has been fighting in the UFC since 2013. However, he has fought only 7 times in the promotion in the last 8 years. His organizational record stands at 4-3.
‘Dangerous‘ is currently on a 3-fight winning streak with 2 of those coming by knockouts. He knocked out Martin Day at UFC 251 ahead of his finish against Martinez.
Marlon Vera vs Davey Grant: how do the bantamweights match up?
Vera has a pretty well-rounded arsenal of skill sets. ‘Chito’ has 14 finishes out of his 16 wins in his career. 6 T/KO and 8 submission wins accumulate those numbers for him while his professional record stands at 16-7. Vera has been able to make some noise in the bantamweight division recently, and another win over Grant will further elevate his popularity.
Grant, on the other hand, has a pretty slick submission game too. Apart from his last 2 knockouts, ‘Dangerous’ has a respectable 8 submission finishes under his belt.
He has finished 11 of his 13 wins in his career and has a record of 13-4 as a professional. However, all 4 of his losses have come via submission. ‘Chito‘ will look to capitalize on the fact and impose his skill sets in the rematch.
