Olly Alexander was left completely freaking out on The One Show after getting a surprise message from Shania Twain.

The Years and Years singer recently got the attention of the You’re Still The One singer, after she heard him perform a version of That Don’t Impress Me Much on BBC Radio One.

But he was left gasping after Alex Jones and Michael Ball revealed that Shania had sent him a little something.

With his mouth wide open, Olly was seen absolutely fangirling over icon Shania, as she spoke to him from her US home.

‘Thank you for doing such a great version of That Don’t Impress Me Much on the radio,’ she said.

‘My BFF Greg Jmaes played it and that’s how I heard it. I wanted to thank you, for just having such a beautiful voice and for singing one of my songs 25 years later – it’s pretty cool.

‘Talking about your beautiful voice I wanted to say congrats and good luck with your new single Starstruck, it’s awesome.’

With his head in his hands and in shock, Alex asked if Olly ‘needed a moment’, to which he responded: ‘I do need time. Oh my Gosh you guys, you made me sweat.

‘That’s amazing! What a wonderful woman. I can’t believe she heard it, you know.’

‘That is a moment. I’m very starstruck by Shania, I’ve got to say,’ he added. ‘Wow.’

The adorable clip comes just as Olly was promoting his latest single, having parted ways with the rest of his band Years and Years in order to go ahead solo.

Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen quit announced they had left the group, which formed in 2010, in order to pursue other projects, with Olly continuing to release music under Years and Years.

He has recently been widely praised for his acting role in It’s A Sin, starring as Ritchie, a young gay man in the 80s amid the HIV crisis.

The One Show airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One.
