Sir Tom Jones has confessed that he farted his way through filming an episode of The Voice UK after being cooked a meal by Anne Marie.

The 2002 singer treated the Welsh icon to a plate of roasted butternut squash behind the scenes of the show, shortly before they filmed one of the live heats.

But, according to Tom, it made a bit of a lasting impression on him, with the vegetarian dish leaving him more than a bit gassy.

Speaking to Alan Carr on his Life’s A Beach podcast, he explained: ‘Anne-Marie cooked some butternut squash and I said, “Oh you cooked that yourself, I wouldn’t mind having some of that.”

‘So she sent a plate round to the dressing room, and when we were just about to go live on Saturday night I said to her, “You’ve sabotaged me!”’

‘She said: “What are you talking about?” And I said: “All I’ve done since I ate that is fart.”’

‘Oh my God … you might have farted so violently that your chair turned round by itself!’ Alan joked.

Tom has been making the rounds on podcasts over the past week – and has been gloriously blunt the entire time.

While on WTF with Marc Maron he spoke openly about needing viagra, stating everyone ‘needs a little help here and there’.

He has been a mainstay of The Voice since it launched, only missing series five in 2016, where Paloma Faith took his spot.

He’s mentored the winner of the show twice – the first ever series with Leanne Mitchell, and Ruti Olajugbagbe in series seven.

This year, it was Anne-Marie’s performer Craig Eddie who won… so maybe it was a cheeky little diversion tactic?

If it was, it was successful!

The Voice is available on ITV Hub.
