Former Lakers Doctor Gives Grim Insight on Kevin Durant and His Quad Injury

Kevin Durant has struggled with injuries over the last few years. During the 2019 NBA Playoffs, Durant suffered a calf strain that seemed very serious. However, he recovered quickly and played in the NBA Finals against the Raptors, but suffered a torn Achilles injury. While Durant has recovered from that, he has had two major injuries which put him on the sideline this year.

Doctor gives negative KD injury update

Former Los Angeles Lakers doctor Marco Nunez spoke to Heavy about Kevin Durant. Durant suffered a thigh contusion against the Miami Heat this weekend. Nunez believes that this is a scary injury, and will keep Durant in a lot of pain. The recovery period depends from person to person. However, given Durant’s recent injury history, the Nets should be cautious and allow him as much time to recover as he needs.

“I think KD has mild contusion to his quad, which leaves a bruise in that area. Unfortunately for KD, a bruise to your quad can be very uncomfortable and very painful. If you use that muscle, it gets painful. At this time, there is no set timeline. With a contusion, it varies from person to person. It is really up to him and how he feels once the pain goes down. Some players may come back in two games, and others may wait two to three weeks because of mobility.”

Kevin Durant and his injury woes

This news will concern Brooklyn Nets fans. Kevin Durant has looked spectacular whenever he has played this season. The problem, however, is that Durant hasn’t played very often. He played well for the first three months of the NBA season. Then, Durant was sidelined due to a thigh strain injury. The Nets didn’t rush Durant back, and he made his return last week, after two months away.

But this weekend, Durant suffered yet another injury setback. These injuries and their frequency is a growing concern in Brooklyn. The Nets signed Durant to a massive deal in order to capitalize on his final championship level year. But if his injuries continue to halt his game time, then the Nets may have to look at offloading him.

Can Kevin Durant put his injury concerns behind him? Despite the worries around KD’s injury, this latest injury appears to be unrelated to his previous ones. However, the Nets medical staff will want to look at Durant’s physique, and why he is so prone to injuries lately.
