Good Morning Britain fans have called for Robert Rinder to take over as permanent host from Piers Morgan after his most recent appearance on the show.

The criminal barrister and television personality was one of the names initially linked with the role after Piers sensationally quit the show earlier this year.

It came after more than 41,000 people complained about Piers’ conduct surrounding Meghan Markle, due to his comments about ‘not believing Meghan’ when she told Oprah Winfrey she had previously felt suicidal.

Now, after the star went on the programme to talk to his friend Susanna Reid and her co-host Adil Ray, fans want him to sign on permanently.

The 42-year-old, who is known for his show Judge Rinder, spoke on Tuesday about a number of issues – including the difficulties private renters face with their landlords and unsuitable living conditions.

Robert said: ‘They are scared to go to their landlord because they’re scared they will retaliate,’ before going on to say he wanted the government to abolish section 21 of the Housing Act.

The TV personality also revealed that she would be spending time with his grandmother soon after she received her vaccinations.

After he appeared on the show, fans on social media speculated that he could be replacing Piers permanently.

‘Could Judge Rinder be a new #GMB presenter?’ one said.

‘Rob Rinder would be a great replacement for Piers Morgan,’ another said.

Robert emerged as the favourite at one point to join the presenting team, although a permanent replacement has yet to be announced.

Other names thrown into the mix include current GMB stars Ben Shephard, Adil Ray, Ranvir Singh and Alex Beresford, whose powerful speech on the show on Tuesday prompted Piers to storm off set.

Since the news broke, however, it has also been reported that Susanna is set to become the main presenter on the show in Piers’ absence.

Meanwhile, Robert explained he ‘feels sorry’ for the boys that mugged him last month.

The Judge Rinder star was the victim of a mugging in March, when three boys in balaclavas grabbed his phone out of his hands while in London.
