Lakers’ Andre Drummond Opens up on Anthony Davis’ Return

Los Angeles Lakers have been hard hit with injuries this season. While both of their superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis are out, the champions have somewhat defied expectations and been decent even without their superstars.

Much of it has been because of their resilient defense this season. New additions, Dennis Schroder and center Andre Drummond have been crucial in this stretch of games. They have even won multiple games against top opposition, like Brooklyn Nets and Utah Jazz.

The Lakers will hope that the team can maintain their decent run of form and pick it up once both the superstars are back.

One of the biggest changes the Lakers’ roster saw this off season was that in the center position. While Montrezl Harrell has excelled in a bench role, Marc Gasol clearly struggled in a starting role.

This prompted the Lakers to sign a center capable of replacing Gasol. To address the issue, the Lakers signed Andre Drummond. Drummond has shown flashes of what he really is capable of doing on the floor.

After their latest loss to the Utah Jazz, the 28-year-old Drummond expressed how excited he was to play alongside Davis. “I have no idea, but I’m looking forward to being on the same court as him.”

“I’ve played with AD for many years, you know with USA basketball, so the experience is there I’m looking forward to being back on the court with him again I think he should be back very soon so very excited to you know start that bond together on the court.”

The Lakers finally have a capable rim-protector and a dominant rebounder in their roster. Given his physicality and his size, Drummond becomes a massive weapon for pick and roll opportunities.

Once LeBron James is back with the side, this will become much more prominent. With Drummond dominating on the paint, Davis will have the opportunity to dominate from the perimeter.

Anthony Davis is very near to make his return to the side. It will be interesting to see whether Drummond and AD can bring the best out of each other.
