Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan have applied for planning permission to construct a ‘granny flat’ in the grounds of the mansion they are building in Essex, according to reports.

The couple have been hard at work designing and building their dream home after demolishing a £1.3million farmhouse that previously stood on the plot to make way for their custom built property.

As well as five bedrooms, a bar, fire pit and outdoor swimming pool, the couple have also applied to Epping Forest District Council for permission to build a one-bedroomed annexe in their garden.

According to The Sun, the couple are planning to demolish an existing stable building to make way for the extra building.

The couple previously withdrew plans to build external accommodation in May last year for unknown reasons, according to the paper, which was to be built for Mark’s parents, Mark Snr and Carol.

The local parish council had responded to the application to say they had no objection to the plans.

The application reportedly states: ‘The annex provides one bedroom, bathroom, a TV room and an open plan kitchen, living and dining area with a feature window & doors to provide good views over the countryside.’

Mark and Michelle have been keeping their followers up to date with the progress of the build with a separate Instagram account dedicated to their home.

The couple have also been relying on feedback from their followers to help make decisions on some of the design elements, recently posting some of their celeb pals’ staircases to help them choose which one to go for.

Michelle and Mark have also planted fast-growing trees around the property to shield it from view, as there is a footpath that cuts through their land, meaning ramblers can walk by.

The couple had previously wanted to build a wall and electric gates, but had to go with trees as they were not allowed to close off the footpath.
