New Syracuse Orange Guard Picks Michael Jordan For Greatest of all Time Over LeBron James

LeBron James and Michael Jordan are always going to be compared with one another. Maybe that is what happens when one takes the two greatest men to play a sport. Even if they didn’t play against each other, they will forever be compared with each other. The GOAT conversation is nothing new, and a young NCAA player has given his verdict.

Symir Torrence, who just transferred from Marquette to his hometown Syracuse Orange, picked Michael Jordan over LeBron for his GOAT. This is pretty unique, as Torrence was born after Jordan’s prime with the Chicago Bulls had already been wrapped up.

“Michael Jordan, no question. I didn’t watch him play at all. Just watching him dunking, hearing his stories from Hall of Fame coaches. People don’t realize, with everything that we have now for strength and conditioning, the machines. They didn’t have that stuff back then. Obviously, their bodies back then are going to be way different from here.

“What if Michael Jordan had the same treatment LeBron had? What if Michael Jordan invested in his body with $1 million, how great do you think Michael Jordan would have been? He probably still would have been playing.”

LeBron James vs Michael Jordan: What separates them?

Torrence opened up to having never seen Jordan play and made his decision based on what his coaches told him and what he saw in dunk highlights. While that is a fair way to make an assessment, NCAA coaches and the system usually lauds Jordan much higher than LeBron James, as LeBron refused to enter the NCAA set-up.

Michael Jordan won a national title with a blue-blood school like the UNC Tar Heels. Meanwhile, LeBron publicly chose to bypass the college system for the NBA. The resentment over that move is well-documented, including a rule change that banned high school players from declaring in the NBA Draft.

But Jordan has a lot of feathers in his cap outside the NCAA that LeBron is yet to get. However, it is a good thing that we can see LeBron build on his legacy in the twilight of his career. Maybe he one day can stand as the GOAT over Jordan. But as of today, Jordan seems to be the pick still.
