Like the rest of the world, we have been impatiently waiting for the third series of Sex Education to grace our screens.

Luckily two of the show’s stars, Tanya Reynolds (Lily) and Kedar Williams-Stirling (Jackson) have shared a few hints about what we could expect.

The series follows the lives of students as they battle with figuring themselves out and growing up, also starring the likes of Asa Butterfield (Otis Milburn), Emma Mackey (Maeve Wiley) and Gillian Anderson (Dr Jean F Milburn).

Speaking to Cold Feet star Cel Spellman on his Call of the Wild podcast, Tanya and Kedar said there’s ‘definitely a different tone’ to the new series.

‘There’s two new characters this time. I feel like it’s going to be different because we also shot it in a different season. Normally we shoot in summer but because of Covid we had to shoot it in the winter,’ Kedar said.

‘There’s a whole storyline that happens where just the aesthetic of the whole thing changes. So without giving too much away, it’s definitely a different tone this year and it’s going to be exciting to see on screen.’

Tanya added: ‘We’re not allowed to say anything but there are new scandals and I can’t wait to see how people react to some things. I think as Lily gets older she’s definitely going to become a Greta Thunberg type.’

One of the new cast members has already been revealed, as it’s been reported that Jemima Kirke is said to have joined ahead of the show’s third season.

It’s been claimed that the Girls star has landed the role of Moordale High’s new headteacher, taking over from Mr Groff (Alistair Petrie).

According to The Sun, the actress will move to Wales for six months while shooting takes place, and has already chopped off her hair for a ‘smarter’ look.

‘The arrival of a sexy woman as head will sensationalise pupils who are more used to a stern middle-aged man running the show,’ an insider told the publication.

Filming for series three of Sex Education was confirmed by Netflix last year, with the cast confirming filming had begun in September when lockdown restrictions were eased.

Emma previously revealed that the cast and crew had to undergo ‘very regimented’ coronavirus testing on set – but the raunchy scenes were able to continue

She told Porter: ‘We’re all still, like, hugging and making out… and doing intimate scenes.’

You can stream all previous series of Sex Education on Netflix.
