Who are the UFC Fighters Bobby Lashley Trains With?

Bobby Lashley might be a successful wrestler now, but his run as an MMA fighter wasn’t bad either. The All Mighty holds a record of 15-2, his biggest wins coming against the likes of Bob Sapp, James Thompson and Josh Appelt. But where did Lashley train for his successful MMA career?

Bobby Lashley and American Top Team

We have associated Bobby Lashley with the American Top Team since his Bellator career began. The American Top Team is a gym founded by Dan Lambert, and we associate many top UFC and Bellator fighters with the gym. These include the likes of Jorge Masvidal, Junior Dos Santos, Amanda Nunes, and of course, our current WWE Champion.

Lashley trained with some of the top talents in MMA history during his stint in the American Top Team. Their relationship extended beyond the octagon and landed in the squared circle. During his second run in IMPACT, American Top Team’s founder and some top MMA fighters got involved in a storyline.

During his feud with Moose, American Top Team got involved in several matches. Dan Lambert expressed his passion for wrestling but tried to coax Lashley to take up MMA permanently. Alongside Lashley were some of the most recognizable names in the MMA world.

Colby Covington, Muhammad Lawal, Gleison Tibau, and a few other names from the MMA invaded IMPACT to send a message to Jim Cornette. Cornette actually granted Lashley his release from the company, only for Lamber to blast the entire wrestling industry during a promo.

The storyline ended with Lashley spearing Lambert through a table and staying in the wrestling business for good.

Lashley’s MMA career

Bobby Lashley began his MMA career after his first run with IMPACT ended. He fought his first match against Joshua Franklin in a promotion called Mixed Fight Alliance. He eventually ended up fighting for bigger promotions like Strikeforce, Shark Fights and Bellator.

His Bellator run picked up steam with a redemption win over James Thompson, one of only two men to beat Lashley in a fight. Thompson won their first clash in India by unanimous decision, but Lashley won the rematch via TKO in under a minute.

His last fight came against Josh Appelt at Bellator 162 in October 2016. Since then he hasn’t returned to the octagon and has devoted the rest of his career to professional wrestling. As of October 2020, Lashley is no longer a part of the Bellator promotion.
