WWE fans were baffled as NXT tag team Breezango dressed up as the Queen’s Royal Guard during this week’s episode.

The duo of Fandango and Tyler Breeze – formerly known as the Fashion Police – as known for their zany outfit choices on TV, and they gave a nod to the company’s British fans during Wednesday’s show.

They donned the famous red coats and beefeater hats worn by the Guard as they stepped into the ring to face Brits Zack Gibson and James Drake.

Although a few fans thought the costumes were a reference to the late Prince Philip after his funeral over the weekend, it’s much more likely that the pair were instead trying to get into the Grizzled Young Veterans’ heads before their match.

It didn’t do much good, as Gibson and Drake – who felt their opponents weren’t taking them seriously – built some momentum as they won the match.

The teams worked well together once the bell rang, and GYV were definitely the right call to pick up the victory here.

One fan tweeted: ‘Breezango with an homage to Prince Phillip [sic]’

Another added: ‘rip in peace prince phillip you would have loved breezango #WWENXT [sic]’

However, a different user quickly realised what was going on, as they wrote: ‘are Breezango honoring Prince Phillip or something? What is this? oh because they’re facing Grizzled Young Vets [sic]’

Elsewhere on the show, Kyle O’Reilly beat Cameron Grimes in a great main event after the latter interrupted the ex-Undisputed Era star’s attempt to challenge Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship.

Dexter Lumis and Indi Hartwell’s love story took another turn, as her distraction cost the Tortured Artist his bout with LA Knight.

However, it was the right call here as the man formerly known as Eli Drake couldn’t really offered another high profile loss.

Franky Monet and Io Shirai seem set for a showdown after the new star interrupted the former NXT Women’s Champion as she had revealed her plans to rest up and get back in the title picture.

Elsewhere, Sarray looked fantastic in her debut victory over Zoey Stark, who got beat down by Toni Storm after the match, and Imperium destroyed Ever-Rise despite a distraction from Killian Dain and Drake Maverick.

An in the match of the night, KUSHIDA held his first open challenge for the Cruiserweight Title, with Oney Lorcan answering the call.

In the end, the champ held onto the gold, before Legado del Fantasma attacked until MSK saved the day.
