Xbox Series X Gets Major Graphics Boost, Thanks to AMD
The latest console from the house of Xbox promised to revolutionize the gaming experience with its release last year. The Xbox Series X did deliver 4k gaming at 120 FPS, thanks to its powerful hardware. To make things even better, AMD recently enabled its visual enhancing technology pack for Xbox gaming consoles. This will help game developers for the console to create titles with a substantial graphics enhancement.
AMD FidelityFX is a software that offers an array of adaptive graphics enhancements that developers can incorporate into their games. This means that the Xbox Series X console is about to get the visual enhancements available on PCs that are powered by AMD. This is how AMD describes this technology on their official website:
“AMD FidelityFX is our open-source image quality toolkit comprising of eight different solutions available for developers to implement into their games that are optimized for AMD RDNA and RDNA 2 architectures. FidelityFX helps deliver ultimate visual quality with minimal performance overhead, freeing up your graphics card to power the incredible gaming experiences you demand.”

FidelityFX uses AMD RDNA 2 architecture support for variable rate shading. This helps optimize the rendering for optimal performance without lowering the image quality. Furthermore, it brings out even the minutest details using the Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS). However, most importantly, the FidelityFX software might have just given a major buff to the graphics quality of upcoming Xbox titles.
AMD FidelityFX brings good news for the Xbox Series S consoles
This latest technology has made itself exclusive for Xbox right now. This means that these enhancements remain out of reach for the upcoming titles on PS5. From the way it looks, this technology might have given Xbox a substantial buff over Sony’s new-gen console.
However, let us focus on yet another important aspect here. The software has the ability to enhance the visuals without sacrificing its performance in the process. As a result, it opens up a lot of possibilities for the Series S. As the weaker sibling of Series X, this console features hardware that is less powerful. However, with this new technology, the Series S will be able to run games with the same specs as its stronger sibling.
