A HOST of celebrities are do their bit for Earth Day 2021 – with Love Island’s Lucie Donlan scrubbing the beach and Game of Thornes Maisie Williams urging fans to get involved.

Earth Day has rolled around once again as people across the globe celebrate and raise awareness for protecting the planet.

With a theme of Restore Our Earth in 2021, organisers and scientists across the world are calling for people to rally online to help fight issues facing the world.

A string of famous faces are using their platforms to raise awareness about climate change.

The reality star stressed the importance of everyone playing their part to “make a difference even if it is small”.

The surfing pro took to social media to share a snap of her picking up rubbish.

The TV star wrote: “Happy Earth Day! 🌏♻🌊 ‘I cannot do all the good that the world needs, but the world needs all the good that I can do.’

“As you all know I’m very passionate about what we all have in common, the earth.

“This quote really spoke to me, because although it’s not always possible to live 100% sustainably I feel that together we can make a difference though making small changes and responsible choices in our day to day lives.

“If we all adopt this mindset potentially we can have a huge impact not just to our own surroundings but also globally! What changes are you making today?”

The media influencer was flooded with comments from fans praising her for getting involved, with one writing: “You’re an actual angel. Every small difference can result in one big one.”

Lucie’s fellow Love Island boyfriend Luke Mabbott also commented: “Proud of you lady.”

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams urged people to “choose Earth” because it’s essential for the future of the planet.

The actress, 24, made her statement clear by sharing a photo of her wearing a slogan t-shirt reading “choose Earth”.

Alongside the photo she wrote: It’s Earth Day 🌎 and I ask you to CHOOSE EARTH!”

“My friends over at Choose Love have launched a campaign raising desperately-needed funds for the incredible Brazilian indigenous leaders dedicating their lives to protecting the rainforest from destruction.

Coronation Street’s Samia Longchambon enjoyed the glorious weather and indulged in a countryside walk with her husband Sylvain.

The 38-year-old soaked up the sunshine telling her fans that it was the best way to spend the day.

She wrote: “Sunny countryside dog walk with a stop off for a pub lunch.. can’t think of a nicer way to spend today ☀🌳🥰🐶.”

Meanwhile, ex Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard, 26, embraced his glorious surroundings by sharing a stunning snap of a pink blossom tree.

The I’m a Celeb star posted the candid pic of him staring at the cherry tree, writing: “Everyday is Earth Day 🌎❤ Love Where I live.”

The simple picture evoked a flurry of comments from fans who shared their favourite things about Spring.

One fan posted: “Gorgeous. We’re lucky enough to live on a cherry tree lined road and the blossom is stunning right now.”

Elsewhere Love Island host Laura Whitmore, 35, stripped it back to the bare essentials in her latest Instagram post.

The TV host urged her followers to “be kind to the earth” and pledged that she will also try to do “better” in an open letter.

Ferne gave her fans a glimpse of her huge garden at her Essex farmhouse and said that she plans to plant a tree today.

She said: “Morning guys, Happy Earth Day. What a beautiful morning it is. Literally today I don’t know too much about Earth Day but I guess it is a chance to the best you can, to go green and give thanks.

“You guys know I’m into my recycling, today is my recycling day and I am going to do it with absolute pride. I think we might plant a tree.

“In all seriousness it’s pretty amazing when you stop and think about it, everything our mother earth does for us. We need to take small steps to look after our planet.”

Earth Day is designed to increase attention on environmental issues and ways that can help prevent ecological problems.

Their website states: “[Our] mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide.”

It adds: “Our world needs transformational change. It’s time for the world to hold sectors accountable for their role in our environmental crisis while also calling for bold, creative, and innovative solutions.

“This will require action at all levels, from business and investment to city and national government.”

It has now gone on to become a globally recognised event, after initially being created with the purpose of teaching environmentalism.
