The Dexter revival has given us a first tease of Michael C Hall’s return as the killer-with-a-conscience – and he’s ‘returning back to his nature’ after years as a lumberjack.
The upcoming new episodes will pick up 10 years after the final season eight, when Dexter faked his death in order to start a new life away from his crimes.
But it seems his lust for murder is still as strong as ever, with the teaser showing an axe embedded in wood on an icy landscape.
In his usual chillingly cold voice, Dexter is then heard in voiceover: ‘There really is nothing like getting back to nature. My nature.’
Will he be heading back to Miami? Or will he be starting up his business of slicing and dicing the guilty of his mystery new location?
Dexter’s surprise revival was announced in October last year, and was met with confusion from fans who were divided by the show’s finale in 2013.
Showtime Entertainment president Gary Levine said in a statement: ‘Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for SHOWTIME, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago.
‘We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series.’
He added: ‘Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!’
Lovecraft Country star Jamie Chung has been confirmed to be joining the series as a newcomer, with no news on if any of the previous regulars will face off with Dexter once again.
Dexter is yet to be given a release date.
