Ashley Cain has revealed that his daughter Azaylia’s palliative care team have told the family to ‘make the most of this weekend’ as her body is ‘shutting down’.
He took to Instagram to share a sweet video of him spending quality time with Azaylia in the sunshine, explaining that despite only being able to wheel her up and down their road in her pram it was ‘the best thing in the world’.
As Azaylia has been continually spiking temperatures, Ashley had to keep her close to home in case they needed to hurry back and put her on oxygen.
He told his followers that Azaylia’s palliative care team have warned there may not be much time left as the eight-month-old battles leukaemia.
Ashley explained: ‘The palliative care team have told us that we should make the most of this weekend and enjoy this weekend, so you can understand what that message means.
‘But the fact of the matter is, we make the most of every day and we enjoy every day and I’ll tell you one thing, I have no plans for her going anywhere this weekend.
‘I’m an optimist, I’m a believer, I have a positive mindframe and I know her strength and I know mine and I’m not thinking those things.’
Azaylia’s mother, Safiyya Vorajee, also shared some photos of her baby girl, telling fans: ‘Azaylias eyes are intensely dry for which she now has to have eye drops so her eyes can move along with platelet transfusions, and so much more, azaylias care is 24/7.
‘Feeling the heartache more and more today, as the Nurses woke me up this morning for a home visit & told me to enjoy the weekend as they now think her body is slowly shutting down, I got told this a couple of weeks ago and she has stayed so strong through this I’m so proud of how strong you are Azaylia.’
She added: ‘Hearing these words, rips and tears my heart and soul into pieces watching my little girl get tired is painful but giving her 100% everyday is what she was promised, even when her eyes are closed I talk sing and shake her fav rattles so she is constantly surrounded by a positive vibe.
‘Appreciating the day the hour and the min is something I never thought I would do as we all take life for granted.
‘I decided to put Azaylia in her pram outside in the shade today to enjoy some fresh air and hear different sounds, remember it’s the small things in life that really make a difference.’
Ashley and Safiyya had hoped to take Azaylia to Singapore for specialist treatment to save her life, for which they crowdfunded £1.5million, but were tragically told her condition had worsened and it was no longer an option.
