It’s time for the semis of the Barcelona Open 2021, and two rising stars will be up against each other in one of the encounters. World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Jannik Sinner tomorrow in the first semi-finale. Both the youngsters look in some incredible form and will look forward to earning the ticket to the finale.

Stefanos Tsitsipas v Jannik Sinner: Preview

Stefanos Tsitsipas is right now on an 8-match winning streak since lifting the Monte Carlo Masters 2021. Interestingly, he hasn’t dropped a single set in all those 8 matches and is currently enjoying some superb form.

The Greek player defeated another rising star Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarters of the Barcelona Open 2021. It is his excellent forehand that Jannik Sinner has to play carefully in order to give himself any chance in the match.

On the other hand, Sinner too has performed brilliantly in the 2021 tennis season so far. Even though he lost to Novak Djokovic early at the Monte Carlo Masters 2021, he played exceptionally well at the Miami Open 2021. As a result, he ended as the runner-up of the tournament after defeating the likes of Roberto Bautista Agut and Alexander Bublik.

At the Barcelona Open 2021, Sinner again battled past Agut in the pre-quarters. The Italian player also thrashed the Monte Carlo Masters 2021 runner-up Andrey Rublev in straight sets in the quarters.

He has the ability to cover the court quickly and is yet to lose a set in the tournament.

World No.5 Tsitsipas crushed Sinner in straight sets in the round of 32 at the Rome Masters 2019. However, the Italian soon took his revenge and defeated Tsitsipas at the same tournament the next year. It’ll be intriguing to see who will take the lead in this battle at the Barcelona Open 2021.

Tsitsipas v Sinner: Prediction

After enjoying recent success on clay, Tsitsipas will surely start as the favorite before the match. With his current form and magnificent forehands, it’ll not amaze the fans if he beats Sinner in straight sets. However, Sinner too hasn’t dropped a single set in the tournament yet.

The Italian will try to make sure that he targets the backhand of Tsitsipas. He’ll also like to engage the Greek player in long rallies- an area where he hasn’t been up to the mark in his recent matches.

Whatever be the outcome, fans are definitely looking forward to watching some great tennis ahead. The winner of the match will most likely face Rafael Nadal in the finals. Will Tsitsipas be able to play back-to-back finals on clay this season?
