Carla Suarez Navarro has shared heartening news, which has lifted the spirits of the entire tennis community. The Spanish professional who got diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma last year revealed that she is now cancer-free.

The 32-year-old posted a picture of herself on her social media handles wearing a ‘Stronger Than Cancer’ t-shirt. Following that, a list of her friends and colleagues responded with kind words and congratulated her on her victory.

Carla wrote, “I’M CURED! Another step forward. Today I finished my treatment and overcame Hodgkin lymphoma.” She also thanked her supporters and the healthcare professionals in the post.

The good news from Carlo spread like wildfire and left many with a warm heart. Indeed, it was the right time to show the Spaniard some more love.

Seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams expressed her happiness on Instagram. She and Carla have played one another 11 times in the 2009-2019 decade.

Venus commented, “I’m just one of the millions who are SO happy for this news!” Undoubtedly, the news has provided some much-needed relief to ardent tennis fans around the world.

Maria Sharapova, the five majors champion who retired last year, responded on Twitter. Former World No. 1’s Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters, and Chris Evert also joined the Russian.

Former doubles World No. 1’s Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands also gave her love. The Indian wrote, “So amazing, you fighter.” The American replied, “Yes Carla! You are an inspiration!”

Apart from them, American star Madison Keys, German professional Andrea Petkovic, and retired Australian Rennae Stubbs shared their happiness with the news. Afterward, the list kept on growing.

To add to this heart-warming news, Carla has direct entry to the main draw of the French Open this year. She had planned to hang her racquet at the US Open 2020, but the pandemic and her illness postponed it.
