The most popular UK baby names of 2021 so far revealed… and Olivia has finally lost the top spot

THERE’S no denying that Olivia is a lovely name – but if you don’t want your child to share their moniker with five others in their class, then it’s probably one to avoid.

After all, it’s been crowned the UK’s most popular baby name for the past two years – but that could be set to change in 2021.

Nameberry has revealed the top five names UK mums and dads are looking up on their website – and Olivia doesn’t get a look in.

According to experts, “cool micro-names” such as Luna and Arlo are proving popular in more than just the UK.

After analysing their most viewed baby names, Nameberry revealed that Luna is currently the top name in the UK, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Japan, the Philippines, and the US.

What’s more, the UK’s current favourite boy’s name in Arlo also appears in the top five for the US, New Zealand, Israel, France, China, Canada and Australia.

Girls:

1. Luna

2. Ophelia

3. Elodie

4. Iris

5. Maeve

Boys:

1. Arlo

2. Oscar

3. Hugo

4. Albie

5. Atticus

Other names on the rise in the UK are Ophelia, Elodie, Iris and Maeve – seemingly inspired by Netflix’s Sex Education.

Meanwhile, Oscar, Hugo, Albie and Atticus are growing in popularity for boys – after being included in the top 20 for 2019.
