A sitcom starring Alec Baldwin and Kelsey Grammer has reportedly been ditched by ABC despite the channel initially giving it a series order.

According to Deadline, the plug was pulled on the project after executives viewed the pilot.

The decision comes after a change of management at the network.

The comedy, which was unnamed, was due to star Alec, 63, and Kelsey, 66, as well as actor and comedian Alec Mapa, 55.

It followed the lives of a group of men who had lived together in their twenties but their friendships fell apart due to their egos.

The series would have seen them reunite and was written by Modern Family’s Chris Lloyd and Vali Chandrasekaran, and was directed by James Burrows.

The pilot is now being pitched to other television channels and streaming services by 20th Television.

Alec rose to fame on Knots Landing, and has since starred in the likes of The Hunt for Red October and 30 Rock.

The news comes after a happier moment for Alec earlier this year – he and wife Hilaria welcomed their sixth child together.

The couple shared the first photos of their adorable newborn on Instagram in February, after managing to keep the news under wraps.

In one photo, Hilaria could be seen cradling her newest addition while surrounded by her five other children; Carmen Gabriela, seven, Rafael Thomas, five, Leonardo Ángel Charles, four, Romeo Alejandro David, two, and baby boy Edu.

The yoga instructor teased her Instagram followers further and added in her stories: ‘How many babies do you see?’ with the options being five or six.
