Nuno Espirito Santo rules himself out of Tottenham manager running and insists he is committed to Wolves

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO has rejected the idea of becoming Tottenham’s next manager.

The Wolves boss asserted his commitment to his current job by stating he still has a contract he aims to honour.

Jose Mourinho was fired on Monday and Ryan Mason was put in interim charge

Spurs sacked manager Jose Mourinho this week and Nuno is among the list of candidates the bookies think could take over.

But the Portuguese boss ruled himself out of the running and is steadfast in his decision.

He said: “I have a contract. It is my decision to sign a contract and that is what I want to say.

“When I make a decision like that there is no doubts in my mind. There are no doubts at all.

“I am going to be here on Friday at 8.30 in the morning to prepare our game against Burnley.”

Nuno is contracted at Wolves until 2023 and has the backing of the board despite an underwhelming campaign.

That means Tottenham will have to switch focus and could look to RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann or former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to succeed Mourinho.

Ryan Mason took over as interim manager and won his first game in charge – winning in the Carabao Cup final could gain him many supporters too.

And with pressure on Daniel Levy following protests last Wednesday, this appointment will be key to showing Spurs’ ambition.
