What Time Is Jimmie Johnson’s 2nd IndyCar Race This Weekend? Where to Watch the Firestone GP?

This weekend, the second round of the 2021 IndyCar Series kicks off. Admittedly, Jimmie Johnson did not enjoy a particularly great debut at Barber Motorsports Park. The 45-year-old was the slowest of all the rookies, finishing down in 19th place. Of course, it is worth noting that this is just the first race.

Now, the Chip Ganassi Racing driver will be preparing for the next race. This time around, the IndyCar drivers head to the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg. Everything kicks off with Practice 1 at 4:15PM ET, which runs for 45 minutes on Friday. Then, Saturday plays host to Practice 2, which is another 45 minute session at 9:45AM ET.

How does the rest of the IndyCar weekend play out for Jimmie Johnson?

Later on at 1:45PM ET, the IndyCar drivers head out for qualifying. This time around, the session lasts for one hour and 15 minutes. Then, at 10:00PM ET, the highlights of the session will air for the viewers at home. Finally, Sunday’s race kicks off at 12:00PM ET and coverage lasts until 3:00PM ET.

When not watching the race live, fans can tune in to NBC Sports Network, Peacock or IndyCar Radio. Meanwhile, Eurosport airs the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg in Asia. Fox Sports airs the race in Australia and New Zealand, along with Sky Sport. In Europe, there are a variety of channels that air the IndyCar race, like Sky Sports, Canal+, Ziggo Sports, Sport1 and many more.

Out of the 17 rounds on the 2021 IndyCar calendar, Jimmie Johnson will race in 13 rounds. The remaining four races will kick off on oval layouts, including a double-header at the Texas Motor Speedway on May 1st and 2nd. Of course, the 7-time Cup Series champion will compete in a double-header on the Belle Island Street Circuit on June 12th and 13th. Johnson will also miss a race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the World Wide Technology Raceway.
