Biden has ‘exceeded expectations’ as progressives thought he’d be ‘much more conservative,’ AOC says

NEW YORK Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave a ringing endorsement to the Biden presidency’s performance and progressive policies as he reaches his first 100 days in office.

“The Biden Administration and President Biden have definitely exceeded expectations that progressives had,” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez said during a virtual town hall meeting over Zoom on Friday.

“I’ll be frank, a lot of us expected a much more conservative administration.”

Ocasio-Cortez showered her support for President Biden and made note of the massive $1.9 trillion Covid-19 American Rescue Plan stimulus package he spearheaded.

“It’s been good so far,” the congresswoman said in the dealings with the 46th president, adding that Biden has been “impressive” for his “willingness” to consider the progressive agenda.

She did add that Biden’s term has just begun.

“I still think it’s quite early,” she said.

The congresswoman was clear that the stimulus trickling into Americans’ wallets isn’t a financial silver bullet.

The lawmaker claims the poor are going to be hurting economically for some time from the austerity measures imposed on the country during the pandemic lockdown.

“We have really been working toward recurring stimulus checks we’ve been really pressing the Biden admin on that.

“Because we know — I don’t want us to think that our work on Covid is done because we pressed the American rescue plan in January, we’re going to need a lot of support and a lot of people are going to need a lot of continued support.”

Another focal point for Biden’s presidency will come in how he handles infrastructure legislation in what he’s called the American Jobs Plan.

“We’re in the process of shaping the infrastructure bill, but I think the infrastructure bill will be a key indicator if the administration is keeping or raising its ambitions or if that [American Rescue Plan] was a one and done situation, and we’re going smaller,” she told constituents.
