‘Careful On Them Kicks’- Conor McGregor Has An Ironic Message For Chris Weidman

In one of the ghastliest injuries in UFC, former middleweight champion Chris Weidman suffered a broken leg against Uriah Hall within a few seconds of round 1 at UFC 261. Several followers of sport, including fighters and fans, shared their opinion on the same. One such fighter to give his opinion was Conor McGregor.

Hall was awarded an instant TKO victory at the 17-second mark. He was checking a half-cooked kick which saw Weidman’s tibia break through the skin. The horrible incident put the crowd into shock and made Hall emotional afterward. The sad thing associated with the incident is that Weidman had scored a similar victory against Anderson Silva in 2013.

McGregor took to Twitter and gave his explanation about the incident. He believed there must have been enough micro-fractures due to continuous wear and tear over the years. The kick, though, hit the right spot. He advised Weidman to be careful in the future on those legs.

Conor said, “He had to have a load of micro fractures in the leg possibly for it snap then. The placement of the kick was nice enough. It wasn’t fully checked. He hit the meat. Enough of it anyway. Had to have been damaged over time without knowing. Wear and tear. Careful on them kicks lads!”

This tweet from ‘Notorious’ is not something that wasn’t expected. After all, he could relate to the broken leg with his own. He had suffered a broken leg of his own against Dustin Poirier at their rematch at UFC 257.

Conor McGregor and his broken leg

McGregor faced Poirier at the main event of UFC 257 earlier this year, and the latter handed him his first KO loss in his MMA career. A rematch from 2014, where ‘Notorious’ had defeated him via KO. This time, though, Poirier was ready and targeted for McGregor’s front legs.

Continuous leg kicks slowed the latter’s movement, and he didn’t adjust with it. And as the end result, McGregor lost his mobility during the second round, which allowed Poirier to ultimately land punches to the head and finish the bout. The Irishman was suspended a six-month medical suspension after the fight.

Conor was heard complaining to his team about the calf after the bout. After their fight, a hobbling McGregor met Poirier and even lauded him. He was heard saying, “You broke my leg, you b*****. Great going, brilliant.”

McGregor and Poirier are again set to clash at UFC 264. The trilogy clash will be the final chapter between the lightweight maestros. This time, though, McGregor will hope to save his legs from the ‘Diamond’. Who will claim the bragging rights?
