Heist of the Century, KofiMania, and More: Top 20 WWE Title Changes of the Decade

The WWE Championship is the most prized possession in professional wrestling. In its long history of six decades, only fifty three men have held the prestigious championship. Among the fifty three men, thirteen have held the title in his decade.

WWE recently uploaded a special edition video of their Top 10 Series. In the list, they have compiled the Top 20 WWE Title changes of the decade. Mind you, the title has changed hands forty-seven times from 2010 to now, making these 20 the absolute best pickings.

20 times WWE’s Top Title changed hands this decade

Brock Lesnar’s 16 suplex, 2F5’s squashing victory over John Cena at SummerSlam 2014 took the 20th spot. Bray Wyatt’s Elimination Chamber 2018 victory, Rey Mysterio defeating The Miz on Raw in 2011, and Drew McIntyre taming ‘The Beast’ followed at 19, 18, and 17 respectively.

The ‘New’ Daniel Bryan defeating AJ Styles on SmackDown in 2018, just days before Survivor Series takes the Top 16th spot. Whereas Randy Orton‘s 14th World Championship victory at Hell in a Cell 2020 made it to #15. Orton’s 14th reign at Number 15? What could be even better?

Well, AJ Styles winning the WWE Championship against Jinder Mahal in Manchester is definitely a memorable moment and deserves the Number 14 spot. It was the first time the WWE Championship changed hands outside North America! Bobby Lashley’s ‘All-Mighty’ victory over The Miz on Raw in early March ranks just a notch higher than Styles at Lucky 13.

Next up, it was Roman Reigns‘ win against Dean Ambrose at Survivor Series 2015 at Number 12, while CM Punk’s infamous championship win at Money in the Bank 2011 took the Top 11th spot. Drew McIntyre regaining the WWE Championship on Raw last year made it to the Top 10.

Sheamus’ MITB cash-in in 2015, Brock Lesnar squashing Kofi Kingston on SmackDown’s Premiere on FOX, Triple H winning the title in the 2016 Royal Rumble took the next three top spots of 9, 8, 7. Before we come down to the final five, who made it to 6? Well, it was Jinder Mahal’s shocking victory against Randy Orton which took that spot.

The Top 5 WWE Title Changes!

Now these are the biggest title changes or title victories, you could say, of the decade! The Rock defeating CM Punk at the 2013 Royal Rumble makes it at the fifth spot. It was his first WWE title win in almost eight years.

The fourth spot is not taken, but earned. John Cena‘s record, 16th World Championship win at Royal Rumble 2017 stands firm at the fourth best title change of the decade. This was also Cena’s first World title win in over two years. Daniel Bryan’s historic win at WrestleMania XXX stands at number three! Who are the top two then?

Well, the top two title changes are really special and historic. Seth Rollins‘ Heist of the Century at WrestleMania 31 takes the number 2 spot. And the top spot, the pinnacle goes to Kofi Kingston for turning WrestleMania into KofiMania with his WWE Title win at the ‘Show of Shows’ in 2019.
